Gary Kubiak is making a quarterback change as the coach announced that Brock Osweiler will start in place of the injured Peyton Manning on Sunday at Chicago.
“I told the team that this week Peyton is not going to play, that Brock was going to play this week and all of our full attention is going to be to get Peyton back healthy,” Kubiak said. “That decision has been made. I know that’s the best decision for him, for us to get him back and healthy, and we need to know where we’re headed this week with Brock and get our football team ready to play Chicago.”

Manning will not dress for the game and Trevor Siemian will be Osweiler’s backup. There is no timetable set for Manning’s return and the Broncos will take the situation week by week.
Kubiak and Manning will re-evaluate where he is next Monday and will go from there

Kubiak said in his postgame presser that he shouldn’t have started Manning Sunday and now this decision is coming swiftly instead of “ignoring” some of the signs he should’ve seen last week. “I have to do what’s best for the player, and for the team. You’re always looking at that from that perspective: How do we win this week? What does this team need to do? Concern for each and every player and doing whats right for each and every player. Ive been through that as a player and he’s different in that meeting room right now because it’s a different week for him. But we’ve got his back, the players will support him and need to play well around him and they know exactly where we stand and where we’re headed.
If doing what is best for the player and the team is going to be Kubiak’s main focus going forward its hard not to wonder if the Osweiler quarterback change wont be a more permanent one if he and the offense have some success on the field.
