I really don’t get everybody’s frustration with Gallo. Yes, he has a low field goal percentage, but he has a very good true shooting percentage, because he takes a lot of 3s (and makes a fair amount), he gets to the free throw line a lot, and he makes his free throws. As a result, his true shooting percentage is 58.7%, one of the best marks in his career. The league average true shooting percentage is 52%. Chauncey used to be the same way. His career field goal percentage was barely over 40, but he made 38.7% of his 3s and he took 5 free throws per game, making about 90% of them. If I had to point out anyone as disappointing, it would be Mudiay. His shot chart is ugly, everywhere. He has obviously shown promise elsewhere, but the shooting is really ugly at this point. I don’t think it will stay this bad, but still, he’s shooting 37% from within 3 feet of the rim. Even Ricky Rubio, unquestionably the worst finisher in the NBA, is around 47% for his career. Mudiay has a lot of work to do.
