Peyton Manning has another NFL record you don't know about

Peyton Manning; greatest quarterback of all-time?

The argument can surely be made — at least as greatest regular season QB ever — and as he continues to break NFL records, the argument is being made by his numbers.

Today, when the Denver Broncos play against Manning’s former team, the Indianapolis Colts, in the stadium he built, The Sheriff has an opportunity to break two of Brett Favre’s records.

And even before the game kicks off, Manning has already set another NFL record you’ve likely never even thought about.

Manning is at the helm of the Broncos’ second 7-0 start, the others listed — Tom Brady (bonus points if you can name the other two) — have only started a season this well twice. For Denver, the other time they started 7-0 was the second straight Super Bowl season of 1998, when they started the year 13-0 and finished 14-2.

So, Manning has the Broncos at 7-0 — even if dominant Denver defense is more responsible than the offense — but he’s hurting his legacy?

Look, this isn’t a young and spry Peyton Manning, it’s not even the 2013 otherworldly version of Manning we witnessed recently; but the 39-year old Manning can still sling the ball all around the yard and lead his team to wins. No. 18 has struggled this season, especially compared to his previous greatness, but there’s hope he and teammates are finally clicking in Gary Kubiak‘s offense.

The 29-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers last week included 340 passing yards from Manning — including finally getting the tight ends involved — as well as 160 yards from C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman combined.

And in what could be his final game against the Colts and in Indianapolis, expect Manning to put on a show today.
