According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, The Denver Nuggets have waived Erick Green, making room for Kostas Papanikolaou’s return. The 6-foot-9-inch forward from Greece was selected in the second round of the 2012 NBA draft and last played for the Houston Rockets during the 2014-15 season. Kostas Papanikolaou was originally acquired by the Denver Nuggets in the Ty Lawson trade, but the team waived him before training camp on Sept. 25th to avoid paying his $4.8 million non-guaranteed salary.
Waiving Erick Green costs the Nuggets a mere $100,000. Green was on a non-guaranteed deal that would have became fully guaranteed on January 10th. This move adds depth at the wing positions after injuries to Wilson Chandler, Joffrey Lauvergne, and Nikola jokic hit the Nuggets almost simultaneously and with Jusuf Nurkic still rehabbing from offseason knee surgery.
The Denver Nuggets will face the Utah Jazz tonight at the Pepsi Center. Tip off is at 7:00 PM
