With the most important game of the Denver Broncos 2015 season coming up Sunday night against the 6-0 Green Bay Packers, the orange and blue are fired up and ready to go. Unfortunately, some players will be watching from the sidelines.
Rookie left tackle Ty Sambrailo has been dealing with a shoulder injury suffered in Week 3 against the Detroit Lions and if officially listed as doubtful for the Sunday night showdown.
“Here’s the deal: He’s had a full week of practice, he did practice today and took his reps,” head coach Gary Kubiak on the status of Sambrailo on Friday afternoon. “We need to go back and really evaluate, as coaches, take a look at the week’s work and see if we think he’s ready to go, or does he need another week? That’s where we are with it. We’re going to go up there this afternoon and take a good look at it. He’s had a good week, but I think that we have to be smart in our evaluations and that’s what we’re going to do.”
Sambrailo will be missed heavily if he is not able to go, the Packers defense ranks No. 2 in the league (behind only Denver) in total sacks with 23. If he is out Sunday, Ryan Harris would continue to fill in for the second-round pick out of Colorado State University and face Julius Peppers, a sack artist. It seems the coaches have to decide if injured Sambrailo starting at LT is better than Harris at LT and Michael Schofield at RT.
Denver will also be without rookie linebacker Shane Ray for the second time this season after spraining his MCL in the overtime win at Cleveland, he could miss 4-6 weeks.
Linebacker DeMarcus Ware and wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders are both listed as probable and should see the field Sunday night, barring any setbacks. Ware and Sanders lead a laundry list of players on the probable list.
Probable:
OLB DeMarcus Ware (back)
LG Evan Mathis (hamstring)
CB Aqib Talib (ankle)
WR Emmanuel Sanders (shoulder)
S Omar Bolden (foot)
ILB Corey Nelson (knee)
RB Juwan Thompson (hamstring)
TE Owen Daniels (shoulder)
OT Ryan Harris (knee)
Doubtful:
OT Ty Sambrailo (shoulder)
Out:
LB Shane Ray (knee)
Denver is one of only five teams left in the category of unbeaten, so are the Packers. It’s only the fourth time in NFL history two teams 6-0 or better have met. Somebody has to lose on Sunday.
Peyton Manning and company just need to make sure it’s not them on the night Pat Bowlen is inducted into the Ring of Fame.
