These 2015 Denver Broncos are special.
This team isn’t just one which revolves around one stellar unit – the offense for the majority of the last 30 years – but all three phases of the game are coming together to earn wins. OK, the offense still lags way, way behind the defense and even special teams, but it’s shown flashes of brilliance, too.
Certainly, special teams has been the pleasant surprise this season, most notably Brandon McManus.
The Broncos kicker was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month Thursday morning for the month of October; it was his first such honor and the ninth for the storied Broncos franchise since first awarded in 1993.
McManus was nearly perfect in October, booting 10-11 field goals through the pipes while going 5-5 on point after attempts. He led all AFC players in scoring with 35 total points in three games or 11.7 points per game and the Broncos went 3-0 partly due to his great kicking.
Other Denver players who have won:
K Jason Elam (2001), KR Reuben Droughns (2004), P Todd Sauerbrun (2005), K Matt Prater (2009), PR/KR Eddie Royal (2009), K Matt Prater (2011), PR/KR Trindon Holliday (2013), K Connor Barth (2014).
