The NHL announced tonight Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie has been suspended three games for his hit on Simon Despres in the second period of Colorado’s game in Anaheim on Friday night. The hit is officially classified as charging and interference. This is the first suspension of Barrie’s career.
This likely clears the way for the Avalanche to take a look at Brandon Gormley, who has been a healthy scratch the first four games of the season, during Barrie’s absence.
