Nuggets assign rookie Malik Beasley to D-League

DENVER — The Denver Nuggets announced Friday that they have assigned rookie Malik Beasley to the D-League using the flex assignment rule.

Beasley, 20, is headed to the Sioux Falls Sky Force and although the Nuggets do not own or operate a D-League team, they’ll still have full control over the rookie.

In nine games this season, Beasley has played 54 minutes, totaling just 26 points on 9-29 shooting. Beasley’s season-high in minutes came against Golden State on November 10 when the rookie scored 12 points on 5-10 shooting.

The Nuggets’ active roster still sits at 15 players, as an assigned D-League player still counts towards the team’s active roster.

Beasley will get more playing time with the SkyForce and the move likely signals that Gary Harris, who has missed the past 14 games with a right foot injury, is close to returning.
