Bobo lands six commits in busy recruiting weekend for Rams

Mike Bobo and the Colorado State coaching staff weren’t just waiting around all weekend for the announcement of their bowl game destination. They were plenty busy, as a number of recruits were in Fort Collins.

CSU received commits from six of them through Sunday afternoon. The first of which, Marcus McElroy, came Saturday. You can see more about the Mullen High School running back here.

Hours later, Zoauntarrious Brunt tweeted that he officially committed to CSU. The 6-4 safety spent the 2016 season at Orange Coast College where he totaled 37 tackles, one interception and a forced fumble.

Offensive tackle John Blasco was next to give a verbal commit. A 6-6, 312-pound lineman from Tacoma, Blasco joins a CSU offensive line that put four players (Jake Bennett, Fred Zerblis, Nick Callender and Paul Thurston) into the All-Mountain West teams. According to Scout.com, Blasco also held offers from Montana and Hawaii.

Bobo beefed up his offensive line even more with the commit of junior college transfer Tyler Bjorklund from College of the Canyons. The 6-5, 300-pounder is a three-star player according to Scout.com and held offers from a number of schools, including Kansas, Nevada, New Mexico and Oregon State.

Commit number five came from defensive end Christian Howard, a product of Independence Community College. The 6-3, 265-pound Howard totaled 33 tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries this season. He also held offers from Georgia State, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State and New Mexico.

The sixth and final announced commit in a matter of days was another talent from Mullen. Christian Cumber, who Scout.com rates as a three-star safety and the top safety in the state of Colorado, pledged to join the Rams late Monday night.

Cumber received a slew of offers from schools such as Wyoming, Wisconsin, Purdue, Nevada, Michigan State and Colorado. The 5-11, 175-pounder had a remarkable 2016 season for the Mustangs, totaling 54 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble.

The Denver product will join McElroy in green and gold season.
