Colorado State’s Gian Clavell was arrested Wednesday on a charge of false imprisonment with a domestic violence enhancement, as first reported by Kelly Lyell of the Coloradoan.

It’s the second time in the last 14 months that the senior guard faces the charges, with the first resulting from an altercation with his girlfriend outside a dormitory on campus.

The most recent arrest was made on campus as well and Clavell was booked into the Larimer County Jail. According to Lyell, there is no comment at this point from the university or Larry Eustachy.

Clavell appeared ready for a huge season after missing most of 2015-16 with hand and shoulder injuries. In 10 games, he averaged 20.8 points and 6.9 rebounds.

Depending on what happens with the 22-year-old from Puerto Rico, the Rams could be in some trouble. CSU has just 10 players eligible for this season, as five will be sitting out to due to NCAA Division I transfer rules.

Clavell and forward Emmanuel Omogbo are the lone seniors Eustachy currently has at his disposal.

CSU opens regular season play Sunday afternoon when they host New Mexico State. We will provide updates on this story as information becomes available.

Update: Statement from CSU’s Athletic Department on Clavell’s arrest

“We have been informed of an incident regarding Gian Clavell and his subsequent arrest on November 9. Per CSU Athletic Department Student-Athlete Code of Conduct, Clavell is suspended from all team activities indefinitely. The policy reads:

‘When a student-athlete has been arrested or charged with a violation of criminal law, the student-athlete will be suspended from all team activities pending further investigation.’

No additional comments will be made by any member of the CSU athletic department on this matter until further investigation.”
