The Denver Broncos travel to the Black Hole of Oakland Sunday night and will try to improve on their 25-32 record all time. In doing so, they’ll be taking on one of the NFL’s most potent passing games, and they’ll do that without one of their Pro-Bowl cornerbacks.

Aqib Talib has been ruled out for the Sunday nighter after receiving an injection in his lower back and missing three consecutive days of practice. No. 21 also missed last week’s win against San Diego in which he was replaced by young cornerback Bradley Roby, whose 49-yard interception return for a touchdown landed him AFC defensive player of the week honors.

“Roby was the [AFC] Defensive Player of the Week, so I obviously feel good about him, and we always have, but you hope Talib comes back whenever you can,” Wade Phillips said after practice Thursday. “We’re awfully strong with those three guys.”

Joining Talib on the “Out” list will be fellow corner Kayvon Webster, who is still dealing with a hamstring injury. In response to the lack of corner depth, the Broncos have activated Taurean Nixon from the practice squad, releasing John Phillips to do so.

Linebacker Brandon Marshall, who also did not see the field in the Week 8 win, was limited at practice while dealing with a hamstring injury suffered during the Monday night win against the Texans. Marshall, who had accumulated a total of 38 tackles on the year, is listed as questionable.

Marshall joins Matt Paradis as players listed as questionable but, according to head coach Gary Kubiak, all three are expected to see the field. Paradis did not practice all week as a precautionary measure and is expected to be on said schedule for the rest of the season.

Rookie running back Devontae Booker was also limited at practice throughout the week after suffering a shoulder injury against the Chargers, a game in which he ran for 54 yards and one score. Booker, who is projected to start the rest of the regular season at the running back position, is active and is expected to get the start against division the division rival Raiders.
