The Colorado Rockies did it again. Their miraculous second half just continues as they are now 12-4 since the All-Star Break and they find themselves at .500 for the first time since May, 21 with a 52-52 record. Saturday, they turned a rough start into a 7-2 win in New York against the Mets.

David Dahl has spent less than a week in the majors but he collected his second home run. The two-run shot gave the Rockies a lead that Jorge De La Rosa and the bullpen would never surrender.

The Mets plated two in the first two innings on a few hard knocks that made it look like De La Rosa’s night would be long … or short. But the slumping Nolan Arenado got out of his slump — at least for a moment — giving the Rockies their first hit in the fourth. Carlos Gonzalez doubled giving the Rockies two in scoring position for Trevor Story. He’d single and the Rockies were on the board but trailing at 2-1. Story got caught trying to take second and jammed his left thumb in the process. The out wasn’t a big deal as the real deal David Dahl clobbered a two-run shot putting the Rockies ahead.

Story had to come out in the bottom half of the fourth as he re-jammed his thumb with a defensive dive.

That turned out to be the only real negative as the Rockies brought home De La Rosa on a DJ LeMahieu knock in the fifth. Then they scored two more in the seventh on a pair of sacrifice flies.

Boone Logan, Jordan Lyles and Gonzalez Germen all pitched clean innings of relief for De La and the Denver Nine held the New York Nine to two runs on six hits.

Fourth Inning

Being no-hit by Bartolo Colon through three innings the Rockies rallied behind four-straight hits from Arenado, CarGo, Story and Dahl and ended the inning with three runs and a 3-1 lead. Then in the bottom half Rockies pitchers started a run that would last until the end of the game. Retiring 16 straight to end the game.
