Flesch-Law-Recap-

Losing in nightmarish fashion in the tenth inning the day before, with Chris Tillman starting and a week-long road trip that started with a bad taste; this game was set up to be a disaster for the Colorado Rockies. But it wasn’t. The Rockies won their fifth game in six days, defeating the Baltimore Orioles 6-3.

“We’ve come out of the break pretty well,” Manger Walt Weiss told reporters postgame. “I’ve been telling the club all year we were gonna get better and better as the year goes on. That hasn’t been our history the last few years. We have faded the deeper we got into the year. This is a different group and we’re built to sustain success better than we have in the past.”

Indeed, what the Rockies did was very impressive and something that they would not have done in prior years. This club has had every chance to sink into the cellar and they haven’t. And for that, they deserve props.

TURNING POINT:

Third Inning

It was all the Rockies needed as they plated four on Carlos Gonzalez and Trevor Story two RBI knocks.

“We had the two big at-bats,” Weiss said. “CarGo two outs, two strikes and Story with the two-run single.. those two at-bats were crucial in the game.”

PLAYER OF THE GAME:

Chad Bettis

6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 SO

“He’s throwing the ball well,” Weiss told. “He’s back to doing what he does well that’s using all his pitches and commanding the fastball.”
