Colorado Rockies rookie shortstop Trevor Story was named the National League Player of the Week … again. During the week, Story hit .478 (11-for-23) with six homers, 10 runs and 12 RBI, and a 1.876 OPS. That’s a 356 wRC+. It was his second time winning the award in 2016.

This recognition is just the latest in a string of awards and records that Story is amassing in one of the most exciting rookie campaigns in recent memory.

When BSN Denver asked Walt Weiss what this stretch of games most reminded him of, Weiss could only think back to Story’s first week in MLB. It was widely speculated that Story would dramatically cool off after a hot start, and to some degree he did, but he has kept consistent power and has found consistent contact again, at one point during the series against the Braves going 6-for-7 with three home runs and a double.

For the season, Story has posted: 2.7 fWAR, 129 wRC+, .391 wOBA, .275/.349/.590. He leads the National League with 27 home runs, he passed Troy Tulowitzki for homes home runs by a shortstop (previously 24) and is fourth in RBI at 69.

Trevor Story was, at one point, a question mark to make this team out of spring training.
