As a 2009 graduate, I really hate that what Shap and Allie had to say about the csu game was 100%, completely true. I saw the decline starting when I was in school, and it’s sad to see the mentality has fully taken root.

Our students are the worst football fans and I take no pride that I was once one. We’ve stooped to the level of the previously worst fans in college football, csu fans. We will probably be just like the rammies at the RMS this year where they are far more entertained with cheering when they’re on the jumbotron and booing when the other team is on.

I hate so much about what we choose to be.

As a 1986 graduate, it’s important to note that this school has won 35 games in 10 years. Winning cures all, so attendance will obviously go up if they go to a bowl. My kids go to school there, and I do know that the student passes will be $99 next year, so I expect better student attendance next year.

And I disagree strongly with your assertion that CU students are poor fans. Attendance at basketball games is getting better, and like I said, football will be fine once they get to a couple of straight bowls.

You can disagree with my take that CU students are poor fans, but you can’t possibly state the opposite. The student section at both basketball and football games is not full and it shouldn’t even be hard to fill for basketball games. As someone who went to games during the single-digit win campaigns of Patton and Bzdelik, I get a pass to call out the students. I remember one basketball game during winter break when I was one of 3 students in the student section. 3.

The students that do go to the games are certainly good fans that do more than their fair share to be a factor in the game. I admire their resiliency. However, the other 25k students that don’t show up to the football games are the problem.
