After landing their top quarterback target on the board last night, Mike MacIntyre and his staff got another verbal commitment on Wednesday morning, this time on the defensive side of the ball.

Three-star cornerback prospect Chris Miller out of Denton, Tex. ended his recruitment, picking Colorado over offers from Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Boise State, and others.

Miller’s commitment brings the total list of pledges to nine for the Buffs’ 2017 class, all but one of whom have been rated three-stars or higher by Rivals.com. What might be as important or even more so than some of the star rankings though, are the programs that CU’s commitments are coming from at the prep level.

Of CU’s four commits from Texas, three come from traditional Lone Star State powers. From California, the Buffs have tapped into both La Mirada and Servite, two programs no one would have a problem with developing a pipeline into. Lastly, MacIntyre and company have poached two commitments from Cherry Creek, just south of Denver.

We’ll have more on this later, but as things stand in 2017, there’s no question that the Colorado Buffaloes seem to have moved beyond just social media momentum and conversations about getting high quality players from elite high school programs. The rise, as they say, appears to be really, really real.
