With the 45th overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, the Colorado Rockies selected left-handed pitcher Ben Bowden out of Vanderbilt. Bowden worked out of the bullpen for his first two years at Vandy and may start there for the Rockies, but evaluators believe he could easily transition into the bullpen with his swing-and-miss stuff, including a fastball that touches 95 mph.
He has also been praised for his mental approach and general baseball IQ. Bowden marks the third straight pitcher the Rockies have taken in the 2016 Draft.
