Flesch-Law-Recap-Los Angeles- Tyler Chatwood wasn’t immaculate but he was close, impounding the Los Angeles Dodgers and their offense en route to the Colorado Rockies 6-1 win. Chatwood’s unreal road success continued as his ERA actually raised to 0.66 in his five strikeout, one hit, one earned run performance.

The 26-year-old right-hander acquired for Chris Iannetta made just his 12th start after coming off of his second Tommy John Surgery over a year ago. His performance has paced the Rockies staff this year, and he’s becoming more All-Star worthy with each start.

Two of baseball’s most promising shortstop prospects are facing off for this exciting divisional series, Trevor Story and Corey Seager entered Monday’s game as the top two home run leaders at short stop in all of baseball. By the end of the night, one player would add to his total while the other was surpassed by Manny Machado.

Gerardo Parra connected with his 5 home run of the season in the 2nd inning, giving the Rockies a 1-0 lead.

Chatwood ran into some trouble in the bottom of the second, allowing several baserunners due to walks but ended up only surrendering one run.

The game remained tied until the top of the fifth inning when Nick Hundley drove in Mark Reynolds on a double.

In the sixth, the Rockies went off, tagging Bolsinger for four runs including a three run shot from Trevor Story. Nolan Arenado added a RBI double and scored on the Story homer.

Mike Bolsinger had a mediocre night, allowing six runs over five-and-one-third innings, striking out five and walking two while taking the loss.

Tyler Chatwood continued his to impress with his fifth road victory of the season, going eight strong innings, allowing one run on one hit while striking out 5 and walking 4.

Turning Point

A three run homer from Trevor Story forced Bolsinger from the game and pushed the lead to five and the Rockies never looked back.

Lasting Impact

The Rockies won for the second game in a row, hoping to turn things around from their 7 losses in the previous 8 games. Tyler Chatwood continued his strong start on the road, and is looking like he may be returning to top form after undergoing Tommy John Surgery in 2012.

What’s Next

Eddie Butler faces off against 19-year-old phenom Julio Urias who is searching for his first big league win. First pitch is at 8:10 MST.
