With the draft in the rear-view, we’re back to the “Vontract” being in the forefront of Denver Broncos news. While all historical signs point to this situation carrying itself out, until the Broncos ink the Super Bowl MVP to a long-term deal, fans of the Orange & Blue will remain, at least, slightly consumed by the dealings.
The good news for Broncos Country is both sides are completely on the same page when it comes to the desired outcome of the negotiations, this isn’t a situation where one side is looking short-term while the others want a long term deal. Despite reports earlier in the offseason that the dealings were turning sour, Miller was adamant last week that there were “no hard feelings”, adding he was hopeful the deal would get done “any day.”
On Wednesday, Miller drew a massive crowd outside an area King Soopers for a fan Q&A, during his address, he assured fans they have nothing to worry about.
“I’m going to be here in Denver no matter what,” he told. “The contract is going to take care of itself. I’m going to be a Denver Bronco for life.”
That will go quite a long way towards calming the nerves of the Broncos faithful and to make it even more positive, Broncos Vice President of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway echoed the sentiment during an interview with Denver Sports 760 on Thursday morning.
“Well that’s all good news, that’s all good news!” He said of Von’s comments. “We did like that, that’s our plan, too, to be able to get something done with him. Now that the draft is over we’ll continue to get back and try to work on that. Hopefully, we can get Von in here soon, we want Von to be a Bronco for life, too. Hopefully, we can come together and get a deal that both sides like.”
As long as the message from both sides remains this positive, Broncos fans can rest easy knowing that the two sides are going to find a meeting point eventually.
