Kivon Cartwright named to NFF Hampshire National Honor Society

For Colorado State, the “student” part of student-athlete is important.

Earlier in the month, Wyatt Bryan and Nolan Peralta were named to the National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter’s first-team for their academic success, while eight others were honorable mention. Of those eight, former tight end Kivon Cartwright was included.

And now, Cartwright has been recognized again by the NFF, as a member of their Hampshire Honor Society.

In 2014, Cartwright earned his bachelor’s degree, and then earned his master’s degree in management practices in December of 2015. His overall GPA for his time at Colorado State? 3.27. That’s pretty remarkable considering all the time he had to devote to practice, lifting, film study and more.

To earn a spot on the NFF Honor Society, players must have earned a cumulative 3.2 GPA or higher. All told, 868 players fro 275 schools were recognized, a new record. Cartwright becomes the 13th Rams player to earn the honor.

As a player, Cartwright caught 75 passes for 1,136 yards and 11 touchdowns. His best career game at the collegiate level came in 2013 in a loss against San Jose State, with three catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns. After his career at Colorado State came to a close last December, he competed in the East-West Shrine Game, and caught a touchdown. Now, he hopes to become a “Next Level Ram.” During Colorado State’s Pro Day, he ran a 4.64 and 4.72 40-yard dash, while his vertical was measured at 34.5 inches.
