Blue chip receiver picks CU over Alabama, LSU and more

“The rise is real,” that’s what Colorado coaches and players have been saying about the Buffaloes football program, especially the 2017 recruiting class and, well, they might be onto something.

On Thursday evening, the Buffaloes picked up their second four-star recruit of the 2017 class in wide receiver Laviska Shenault.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound prospect out of DeSoto High Scool has an offer list that will blow you away—Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, Oklahoma State and on and on—but after taking unofficial visits to LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Baylor, Oklahoma and Texas A&M, the Texas boy chose Boulder.

Shenault averaged over 17 yards per catch during his junior season, helping lead to the plethora of college vying for his talents, but eventually, lead-recruiter Darrin Chiaverini was able to lasso him into the class of 2017 for the Buffs with an assist from Shenault’s fellow DeSoto native and Colorado grad assistant Patrick Williams.

Rivals.com Shenault as the 26th best receiver in the country and the 23rd best prospect in the state of Texas. He joins fellow Texas four-star receiver, Jaylon Jackson and a pair of Colorado three-stars in Dante Sparaco and Jonathan Van Deist in the Buffs ’17 class that is off to an absolutely fantastic start.

The rise is real? The rise looks to be pretty darn real.
