West Virginia safety set for a pre-draft visit with the Broncos

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the Denver Broncos are one of several teams who will bring in West Virginia safety Karl Joseph for a pre-draft visit.

Joseph, a 5-foot-10, 205-pounder in the defensive backfield, is one of the most interesting prospects at the safety position in this draft. The Mountaineer only played in four games during his senior season after suffering a non-contact ACL injury in practice. In those four games, though, Joseph was on a remarkable interception pace, picking off five in the early goings of the season.

Despite the impressive interception numbers, Joseph is actually best known for his attacking style from the position, injecting fear into crossing receivers and runners who hit the second level. All of this makes Joseph one of the most versatile options from the safety position in this draft and with the way Wade Phillips likes to use his DBs, versatility is huge.

Obviously, the knee injury raises concerns but if all of his medicals check out, those are the type of minor concerns that can help a player fall to the late-picking Broncos in this draft.

A team captain at West Virginia, Joseph is scheduled to visit  the Cowboys, Vikings, Bengals, Steelers, Giants, Texans, Colts and several others on top of the Broncos. He is projected to go somewhere in the second or third round.
