Colorado Rockies rookie shortstop Trevor Story has been named the National League Player of the Week for the week between April 4th and April 10th. As if it could have been anyone else. Story posted seven home runs, each of which came with some kind of historical significance. Story has hit as many home runs as the Marlins, Pirates, Angels, and Mets combined. He currently has an ISO (Isolated Power) of .778.

Last week, he also put up 12 RBI, 30 total bases and a 1.111 slugging percentage in six games while posting a .333 batting average. He hasn’t just been the talk of the town but really of the baseball world, breaking all kinds of home run records in just his first few days in Major League Baseball.

According to a press release issued by the Rockies:

The announcement was made earlier today on MLB Network. This is the first career Player of the Week honor for Story, who joins Fernando Valenzuela of the Los Angeles Dodgers (April 6-12, 1981), Salome Barojas of the Chicago White Sox (April 12-18, 1982) and fellow 2016 rookie Tyler White of the Houston Astros as the only rookies to be named Player of the Week for the first week of a season since the award’s inception in 1974.

So, he just keeps on putting his name on lists with other legendary players. Speaking of great lists of names, Story beat out Adrian Gonzalez, Clayton Kershaw, Matt Kemp, and Anthony Rizzo for the honor. The Rockies get back on the field Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants when Story will look to continue his mesmerizing tear.
