In high school, Maka played out of a three point stance but since the Buffaloes use a 3-4, he will most likely play outside linebacker. He is seen as a raw prospect yet he still drew the eye of some major programs like Utah, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State and Wisconsin. Maka was on his official visit to CU this weekend.
His present height and weight are best suited for the outside linebacker position; shows excellent range and chase down playing speed. His sturdy frame and arm length appear capable of supporting additional bulk over time.
Must gain coverage experience from an up/two point alignment. Does show outstanding foot quickness, change of direction and closing burst as an edge rusher; is able to squeeze/leverage the top of the pocket to pressure the quarterback.
This prospect’s value will accelerate as physical maturity occurs. His motor/determination defending against the run and rushing the quarterback are impressive; may need a red shirt year prior to challenging for starting time at the next level.
Signing day is Wednesday.
