The University of Colorado announced on Friday morning that Sheriron Jones, who had transferred to Colorado from Tennessee just two weeks ago, has been released from his scholarship and will return to his previous school.
“My job is to work with the whole person,” Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre said in the official release from the school. “Each player is unique and comes with unique needs and concerns. Throughout the past couple of weeks, Sheriron and I have spent a lot of time trying to sort out his circumstances. We have concluded that it is in his best interests for him to return to Tennessee.”
A four-star dual-threat prospect out of high school, Jones redshirted at Tennessee this past fall before deciding to transfer to Colorado. He will take advantage of an NCAA rule that allows a student-athlete to return to the school he transferred from within a 14-day period.
