SEATTLE – The Colorado Buffaloes headed into the Northwest this week with a chance to leave in first place in the Pac-12, the only problem was, they forgot to pack their defense.

The conference’s leading scorer, Andrew Andrews put up 33, including 16-17 from the free throw line. Marqueese Chriss and Dejounte Murray each had 17 of their own and the Huskies defeated the Buffaloes 95-84 to improve to 5-1, the Buffaloes dropping to 3-3 in league play.

Dom Collier led the way for Colorado with an impressive shooting performance, making six of seven threes on his way to 21 points. Josh Scott and George King even added in 18 of their own, but the Buffs defensive lapses were what cost them the game, seemingly giving UW and open look on every possession.

After leading 17-16, the Buffaloes promptly gave up a 24-11 run, and the closest they ever got after that point was seven. Colorado simply couldn’t defend without fouling down the stretch, or any time for that matter.

The good news for Colorado, though, is that they can FedEx express their defense to Pullman before Saturday’s matchup with Washington State and still get the all-important road split.

You can never trust somebody with the same name twice.

The Buffaloes came into the game knowing that containing Andrews would be a massive key to beating the Huskies, they failed to do that.

Andrews got to the line 17 times, making 16 of those on his way to 33 points. Colorado had no answer for the Pac-12’s leading scorer.
