BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Bad pregame news here from the Barclay’s Center, where the Avalanche play the New York Islanders.
Defenseman Anton Lindholm, the team said, will be out indefinitely with a broken jaw. Chris Bigras took his place in the lineup against the Islanders and presumably will for the foreseeable future.
Lindholm, who has been playing well of late, took a puck in the jaw from a shot in Saturday’s win over the Philadelphia Flyers.
It’s an even tougher situation for Lindholm because he is a native of Sweden, where the Avs will play back-to-back games next weekend against the Ottawa Senators in an NHL Global series.
