“Saying the right things has never been the problem for this group.
Backing it up and applying meaning to their words with positive action
has been too rarely seen from this core” — Very well-put, AJ. Exactly right.

A trait of this team that has begun to trouble me, and is all to reminiscent of last season, is the dam-bursting effect. We will often hold up fairly well for a significant portion of the game, but once we commit a costly mistake and pay for it, the trickle becomes a hemorrhage. Why? What is the chink in the psychology of this team that allows such a dynamic? I find that when we get down 2 or certainly 3 goals, I have little hope for a reversal of fortune.

When the hell is McNabb going to get a legitimate suspension to teach him that he can’t go out there and try to injure other players like this? He arguably ended Joey Hishon’s career, and only got a game for that, and based on his hit, he obviously hasn’t learned his lesson.

It takes some serious chutzpah to claim, “We’re a different team this year. We’ll respond differently…” right after a loss where they packed it in after going down 2-0. I guess they decided to put off bouncing back until later.

This is one result of naming your captain because it feels like a good PR move to be able to say, “Youngest Captain in NHL history.” Landy wasn’t ready. This year was a chance to totally hit the reset button and rotate the C or have 4 Alternates.

Tonight will feel like a road game because the stands will be packed with Hawks fans. They will hear plenty of cheers after a goal against. We’ll see if team leaders step up and steady the ship.
