Has anyone tried to reach Zadorov to see what his take is on the neg.

In this article J. D. Killian states “Butcher apparently had the impression Colorado wasn’t interested in
signing him a couple of years ago, which hampered negotiations this year when they did try to sign him.” Maybe he should check with A. J. Haefele on that as Haefele stated in a podcast a couple of weeks ago that he asked Butcher about being told by the Avs that he would never be signed and Butcher said it never happened. How could Butcher have an impression about something he knew never happened?

I recall something similar to JD’s take. That Will wanted to come out a year or so ago, but Avs didn’t think he was ready, and so Will went back to DU. No question it is a weird scenario. I have also heard what you said. Honestly.. who knows? It might be BOTH stories are true.

There is a difference between an NHL team telling a sophomore he isn’t ready for pro hockey and saying that they are not interested. The rumor that I first read in the Post (now shown to be untrue) said he was told that he would never play for the Avs which lead to a lot of bashing on Roy to the effect that it came from him. If having the Avs tell a player he isn’t ready for pro hockey as a sophomore sours his relationship with them it is an indicator that he is not a player I want to see in an Avalanche uniform. But with Butcher I am guessing that the main influence for him not signing with Colorado was that he knew he would be playing in the AHL this season here whereas with another team he might have a chance to make the NHL team.

I’m sort of excited to see Beaudin and Meloche play. They both seem a little overlooked to me.
