Back From The Dead: Colorado Rockies offense resurrects for 12 runs

DENVER – Clutch hitting, a slumping Nolan Arenado and a hobbled DJ LeMahieu or any number of injures were some of the issues that kept the Colorado Rockies’ offense quiet the past few weeks. The solution? Derek Holland and the Chicago White Sox.

The Rockies touched up the South Siders straight from the get, grabbing four in the first and never looking back on their way to 12-4 win.

The Rockies hadn’t scored four runs in an inning since Arenado walked-off the Giants in cycle fashion, nor had they scored four runs in entire games in 10 of their last 15 outings. On Friday, Colorado made like Houdini and reappeared.

You wanted a hit? Colorado did hits, 17 of them. Nabbing three from Gerardo Parra, Arenado and Blackmon and two from LeMahieu, Tapia and German Marquez.

You wanted it tough? Marquez was tough. He made it through seven not allowing more than a hit in any given inning until the seventh where he gave up two, one was a homer to Tim Anderson. Marquez struck out five, allowing nine hits but he didn’t walk anyone and was very much in control all game.

Yeah, you wanted it lush? This is a start for the Rockies as they are now .500 in their last eight games and will hold on to a playoff spot through the All-Star Break.

You wanted it real? The Rockies are 23-14 when Parra starts, he came off the DL today.

Yeah, you wanted the truth? Nolan Arenado’s sixth inning blast flew 450 feet and was mere more from landing on the concourse.

The Rockies will not be anybody’s babies anymore, their offense is good and taken home.
