In only his second start after missing more than two months due to a foot injury, Jon Gray made his presence felt at 20th and Blake.
The “Gray Wolf”, who is hitting .118 with only 68 at-bats in his career, blasted a screaming 467-foot shot to dead center for his first career home run. The shot, which is the longest homer since Statcast started tracking home run distances by pitchers in 2015, came off of Reds starter Scott Feldman who was none too happy about his decision to put one over the plate.
“I feel like you should get the pitcher out every time,” Feldman stated after the loss. “To pretty much lose the game on that, not a good feeling.”
