Latvian big man Anzejs Pasecniks, a projected first-round pick who’s rising up draft boards will not work out for the Denver Nuggets during the pre-draft process, league sources told BSN Denver.

The Nuggets are fans of the 21-year-old’s game but won’t bring him to Denver prior to June 22.

Pasecniks is a versatile 7-foot-2 center who averaged 7.2 points on 65.8 percent shooting from the field and 44.4 percent (8-18) from three to go with 3.0 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 15.8 minutes last season for Gran Canaria of the ACB League.

Pasecniks possesses NBA-level athleticism, finishes well around the rim and moves fluidly for his size at 7-2. He has good awareness in the pick-and-roll, solid hands, and has recently shown that he’s more than capable of shooting the ball from distance.

Because of his size, Pasecniks could have a future as a solid rim protector and has much quicker feet than your average 7-2 center. Pasecniks’ quickness gives him the ability to hedge or switch in certain situations onto a pick-and-roll ball handler and give smaller guards issues.

Pasecniks also has a workout scheduled with the San Antonio Spurs.

The Nuggets are slotted to pick 13th overall in this month’s draft and also hold the 49th and 51st overall picks in the second round.
