I think that when evaluating Joe Sakic you are missing the boat if your standards are what you want him to do for the immediate future as opposed to what he has consistently stated he is trying to do. And that is build a team that strong year in and year out. That means a team with the depth to bring up players to replace those who age out or cap out of the NHL team. He is not trying to make the big deal to improve the team for just next year. Changes must be for the long term growth and depth of the team.

One of the main things Bednar needs to be doing this off season is figuring out why almost to a man each player on this team had or nearly had their career worst season. When he came last year he did not have the opportunity to select his own assistants. Hopefully he will bring in some who will help get this team to pass the puck tape to tape instead of in the skates, behind the receiver or out of reach of the receiver. And to shoot the puck. The way to judge whether or not a shot was the perfect shot is by whether or not it went into the net even if it had to go off a stick, a foot and/or someone’s butt.

Until Rock ‘n Roll Part II returns as the goal song you might as well play a recording of crickets after each goal.
