Colorado Rockies eighth-ranked prospect (MLB.com), and once the No. 36 prospect in all of baseball (Baseball Prospectus), Ryan McMahon is off to a very fast start in Double-A Hartford. Last night he made history for the Yard Goats as they christened their new park, Dunkin’ Donuts Park, over the weekend. In the fourth game of play at their new yard McMahon set a Goats franchise record with six RBI.

Not only did McMahon knock in six, he was five-for-seven in a wild 13 inning affair against the Harrisburg Senators. The 22-year-old also had the most clutch hit in the contest, a three-run ninth inning home run with two outs to tie the game at twelves.

Harrisburg topped Hartford by scoring two in the twelfth and two in the thirteenth, the game lasted five hours and 35 minutes.

McMahon and the Yard Goats remain winless in their new park, meaning the team has not won a game in Hartford—ever—despite moving their after the 2015 season. This of course if because the team did not play a single home game last season due to delays in ballpark construction.

This had a major impact on McMahon as well as the Rockies trying him at a new position, first base. Now settled in with a real home the Rockies have moved McMahon around some more, even to second along with his natural third base. The 2013 second-round pick out of  Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, CA is off to a very hot start this season.

11 games into the Eastern League slate McMahon is slashing an absurd .413/.462/.783 in 50 plate appearances. He has slugged three homers and has added 14 RBI in his thus far short stint repeating Double-A.

McMahon could very well be called up to Triple-A in the next few weeks and it’s very much possible that he ends 2017 in Denver. The left-handed hitting McMahon will be Rule Five Draft eligible after this season.
