Colorado Rockies Starting Pitcher Power Rankings: Senzatela joins the Top 5

Greetings! Welcome to the BSN Denver Power Rankings.

Throughout the course of the 2017 season, we will be providing you with Power Rankings for the Colorado Rockies roster at three positions; Starting Pitcher, Bullpen, and Position Player. The rankings will be released at noon on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday respectively.

Each week, we will update the rankings based heavily on the performance from that time period. This is not meant to be a definitive list of who is the best, but rather a more fluid ranking of where everyone stands at any given moment in time.

10. Zach Jemiola (-1) — Jemiola has proven this spring that he can compete at the MLB level. He will return to Triple-A with confidence and a need to prove he can do so with consistency.

9. Yency Almonte (-1) — Almonte was cut from MLB camp a little earlier than we expected but his ceiling remains incredibly intriguing.

8. Harrison Musgrave (+2) – Musgrave has been mighty impressive this spring, says his manager, and could work his way into a “swingman” role sooner than anyone expected.

7. German Marquez (-2) — Marquez has been knocked around a little bit this spring but still shown remarkable poise. He could find himself on the Opening Day roster still, but more likely he begins the season anchoring the Triple-A rotation in Albuquerque.

6. Jeff Hoffman (-2) — Hoffman has seen limited time this spring and has looked a little rusty but still shown flashes of brilliance. Because of the emergence of the next guy on the list, Hoffman might find himself out of a rotation spot but check back in the morning as we report on our conversation with Hoffman and the possibility that he might be asked to start the season in the bullpen.

5. Antonio Senzatela (+2) — The Senzation of the spring, no player had done more to boost his stock than Senzatela who seems like he suddenly has the inside track on a starting job to open the season despite having never pitched above the Double-A level, and barely even that.

4. Kyle Freeland (+2) — Freeland has responded to every challenge thrown his way this spring and really impressed his manager and teammates. Check out our conversation with Freeland and his focus going into 2017 here.

3. Tyler Chatwood (N/A) — Chatwood is the starting pitcher with the least to lose or gain or prove in spring training and he’s been just fine.

2. Jon Gray (N/A) — In his most recent spring training outing, Jon Gray struck out seven guys in five innings while throwing fewer than 65 pitches. Midseason form. He represents just how good this whole rotation can be at their best.

1. Tyler Anderson (N/A) — He’s been consistent, confident, and calm this spring. Anderson is just ready for the season to start.
