AJ, they still have one game left in this calendar year. Not like that is not going to be an incredibly disappointing finish, of course… lol

This post is absolute proof that you and Dater are totally different people. I appreciate the different perspective!

Agree with you quite a bit at the moment. Looks like you and Dater don’t discuss much before posting articles.

Different people with different perspectives on the game. That’s kind of what makes them interesting to read. Something for everyone’s speed. The crowd who thinks the world is burning to the ground after every loss will appreciate Dater more; people who are fine with micro looks in a macro world will take to me a little bit more. Kind of what makes us the team we are.

I highly value both perspectives my good man. Keep up the great work BSN!

I pretty much agree on the majority of your takes.

But I just don’t see how MacK can be considered to be one of the best in the world by anyone when he hasn’t played remotely close to that level very much for the better part of a month.

He’s been one of the five most prolific scorers in the NHL the last 15 months. That’s just a fact. Even with him not playing at that same level the last couple weeks, he’s elevated himself to elite status. That’s the expectation from him now.

Yeah, I’m not disputing how well he has played in the past or saying that he’s not capable of being one of the top centers to lace-up. But I just think that he needs to play at that super high level much more often to be considered elite.

I think he’s an elite player going through a down period, which they all do. He’s still what, third in the NHL in scoring? If he wasn’t still finding ways to produce, that wouldn’t be the case. And that’s what is so remarkable about him right now. He’s not even playing all that well and he just keeps humming along production wise

Even if they beat LA, this was a wildly disappointing finish to the year so my point stands. They had games against St. Louis, Arizona, and two against Chicago and they walked out of those four games with two points. Disappointing

Oh, I know. My double negative must have been confusing. I was just pointing out the year isn’t finished yet, I was joking around, which is why I LOLed at the end. Some very dark humor, I know, but that’s me.

Anyone think Ghetto is pretty much worthless? He is so frustrating to watch!

I dont completely disagree, but there are nights where Ghetto is one of the very few Avs willing to shoot the damned puck… and thats not nothing imho.

What does Ghetto have over Yakupov? Yak put pucks on net with more frequency than Ghetto or Jost for sure, and with more accuracy imo.

We were at the game last night. What a rollercoaster ride it was. The first period was frustrating, the second was much better, then the third, with that 5v3 kill, was the loudest I’ve heard the Can in a while. Still, too many penalties, as was punctuated at the end of the game. Great read, AJ.

I just can’t see the value in Calvert and “Ghetto”. I’d much rather see Dries and Greer.

Jost is so soft with puck. You know when he goes into the corner battles he’s not coming out with the puck

Yup. Greer would probably be better in those puck battles. Can anyone say otherwise from what we’ve seen out of both guys in the NHL to this point?

I like what I see from Graves at this point. The kid at least seems to understand what the coaches want from him and he is doing it. Good for him.

Johnson has been terrible basically all year and plays went to die on EJ’s stick last night. Sammy seems to be affected by EJ’s lack of everything.

Graves game has been a little bit sexy for a call up.

The refs have certainly played their part in the Avs troubles. But they always do, so that’s no excuse. Toews stick level was definitely worth a look, if that had been the Avs they definitely would have called it “no goal”. Landy’s penalty cost us the game though, the refs/situation room/DOPS may play against the Avs, but the losses are rarely their fault.

Why are Jost and Nieto and Ghetto getting stints in the top 2 lines while Greer rots in the AHL??? I want answers!
