Veeeeery early to be writing a redemption article, but he has been impressive so far.

Yes it is. But hey, gotta give him some due. I ripped on him pretty bad last year.

If Wilson can be the season long answer w/Jost and Kerfy on the 2nd line that opens up so many interesting line combinations in the bottom 6 AND more importantly make other teams especially when the Avs are on the road of stacking the line combinations and top d pairing against the MacK line.

I hear we have a secondary scoring problem….. oh wait. 4 games in that has become a “we may still have a secondary scoring problem if these guys all fall off the planet” which hopefully becomes “Nevermind. Holy hell the Avs have what as a 4th line?”

He’s been great so far to start the year but so was Yakupov and Colbourne in the first few games of recent seasons. I”m very happy for him but this article does seem a tad premature. Still he looks like a completely different player out there and credit should be due where it’s due.

It’s hard not to remember Yakupov and Colbourne as an Avs fan, but Wilson does seem to be a lot more solid defensively and have a much better work ethic.

I would say there all different cases. Colbourne scored a hat trick on opening night but essentially never looked good at any point. Yakupov is a talented guy with all the speed and skill in the world but dude had zero hockey sense as bad as I’ve ever seen for a guy with so much talent and terrible defensively. Wilson’s foot speed looks 10x faster this year plays that PF game using his body to create space and some good scoring chances and is decent defensively.

I thought about this too, but I am comforted by the fact that Wilson has a reasonable amount of NHL history to draw upon whereas Yakupov was really here on a last chance and Colburne was more of a bubble player who happened to get a hat trick in his first game.

The 2nd line is passing the eyeball test thus far. Which is more you could say for any of the three players last year at this point, or at the end of the year for that matter. Hope they keep it up.

Do you think Kamenev finding his groove turns the top-6 (well, let’s be honest – the 2nd line) into a drama?
