Collin Hill to transfer from Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Collin Hill has officially played his final snap for the Rams. The veteran quarterback announced via Twitter that he intends to finish his football eligibility elsewhere.

The news is not much of a surprise for a multitude of reasons. As a pro style quarterback that likes to air it out, Steve Addazio’s run-heavy philosophies do not exactly mesh with someone that is still potentially trying to sell NFL scouts on his abilities.

Not to mention it’s well documented that Hill and Mike Bobo were extremely close — and without his mentor in the picture anymore, the writing has been on the wall for weeks.

At his press conference on Wednesday, Addazio told reporters that he had recently met with both Hill and Patrick O’Brien. According to the first-year head coach of the Rams, the interaction went well. Obviously, though, it was not enough to convince Hill to stick around Fort Collins.

Hill will leave CSU with 3,323 yards to his name. In total, Hill completed 61 percent of his pass attempts (263-of-433) and had twice as many touchdowns (23) than interceptions (11).

While he struggled to stay healthy, the long-haired quarterback will forever be beloved in Fort Collins for the dedication he showed to the program and for battling through multiple major knee injuries.

Now that Hill will no longer be on the roster, the current scholarship quarterbacks on campus are Patrick O’Brien (redshirt junior) and Justice McCoy (redshirt sophomore). CSU also has a pair of walk-ons in Judd Erickson (sophomore) and Aaron Syverson (redshirt freshman).
