Hey Justin,
Another great CSU pod. I have a member of DNVR for about a year now and listened to the Broncos pod before I finally joined; that was my intro to BSN. I was super happy when they announced that there would be CSU coverage. I graduated in 2013 and have lived in Fort Collins since 2009 but found that I was missing out on CSU news for football but especially with the smaller sports. It’s been great to get the updates on soccer and volleyball and can’t wait for the basketball season to start.
I know that football and sports in general is a series of character compromises and as fans you have to overlook certain things about coaches and players. That being said I think the most telling incident with McElwain came during his time at Florida. I am talking about his fabrication of the death threats and the emails he was allegedly receiving. That is an incredible accusation and something that UF took very seriously and offered to use their resources to investigate. I don’t think it took very long to find out it was an embellishment (if I’m being nice) by McElwain and they parted ways soon after. I think he was disappointed that he finally became an SEC head coach and it did not go according to plan in the slightest. He was the boy who cried wolf and this was the straw that broke the camels back for his time in Gainesville.
