FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Warren Jackson went full beast mode in his return to the starting lineup.

The junior wide receiver led the Rams with 214 receiving yards on nine receptions. What’s more, eight of those nine catches resulted in either a first down or a touchdown.

As a result of his stellar showing, the league announced on Monday that Jackson was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week. The 6-foot-6, 219-pound, wide receiver is the first Ram to receive the honor since Michael Gallup on Oct. 16, 2017.

Along with recognition from the conference, Jackson also received some love from Pro Football Focus on Sunday, with a spot on the Eckrich Week 7 Team of the Week.

“He was just being Warren,” head football coach Mike Bobo told reporters Saturday night, according to csurams.com.

In the victory over the Lobos, Jackson recorded the longest play from scrimmage in conference this season with an 87-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter. After struggling to consistently move the football for much of the first half, the long touchdown was a big momentum play for the offense. Later, in the fourth quarter, Jackson scored his second touchdown of the night — the 26-yarder proved to be the final nail in UNM’s coffin.

“He just makes a difference,” Bobo said.

The 200-yard performance is the 11th all-time from a CSU wide receiver. Even after missing two games with a shoulder injury, Jackson still leads the Rams with 40 receptions and five touchdowns through the air in 2019.

CSU will need Jackson to be a big presence for the rest of the season. After a bye week, the Rams will travel to Fresno State (Oct. 26) and host UNLV (Nov.2). The Rams have never lost to either team in the Bobo era — but if they’re going to keep it that way, Jackson will need to continue to be a big part of the offense.
