There’s this motto that “we don’t skip steps” and they gotta have the longest view in the room. While I agree with all of this it appears that the team took several steps last year, first playoff appearance, first playoff win, and first playoff heartbreak. They certainly appear motivated by that heartbreak, having swept the Raptors I’m sure part of them feels it could have been them hosting a parade.

The team is also coming up on a situation where decisions must be made with respect to a few players, and as any executive knows that no decision is a decision. I like this core, I am not advocating for anyone to be traded nor do I think there’s the slam dunk 10/10 fit for a trade target. (FWIW I view Beal as an 8/10 fit, so still pretty good but I’m not sure he makes them title favorites) Decisions need to be made soon, I’m glad the team is still negotiating with Beasley (per a Mike Singer report) and if preseason is any indication they clearly view Grant as a big part of the future. They have a good problem with their depth, but this is a problem nonetheless.

Is there a point where you can spend too long on one step out of fear or skipping steps? I see the Nuggets as an absolute 100% no bullshit title contender. Realistically, given the health concerns of the principals of the Los Angeles teams, the shooting concerns of the Lakers, Size concerns on the Clippers, and the defensive effects of losing Derrick Favors…I don’t think you need to squint too much to see them as title favorites. So I ask, is there a point where you can spend too much time on the same step and is the organization in danger of missing a step? Love the work and bring back the hotline so I can ramble from the car instead of from work.

p.s. Question for Adam: Can Vogt take Irwin? I gotta imagine Vogt’s cardio would be key in this match up.

Re: Beasley, for all the talk of trading for Bradley Beal the Nuggets might be looking at Malik and Gary thinking to themselves they can spend roughly the same amount of money to keep them both and get 100% of their shooting guard minutes with younger players, instead of just most of them. One of whom is a better fit with his perimeter defense and the other still has loads of untapped potential. I can also see them looking at Jokic, Grant, Porter, Vanderbilt, and Juancho as their 4/5 rotation of the future after Milsap and Plumlee go.
