Welcome to “What makes this play great,” a brand new series I will be doing here at DNVR in which I break down in detail a single play, moment, or sequence from a Denver Nuggets game and explain all of the subtle details that you might’ve missed the first time around.

This series was inspired by a fantastic YouTube channel by a guy named Rick Beato. Beato is a music producer and on his series, “What makes this song great?” he explains some of the music theory and production details to some of the world’s most popular rock songs. It’s a fantastic series and the format lends itself quite nicely to covering sports.

In this inaugural episode, I look at one of the league’s most common plays, called “21 chase.” Popularized by Mike D’Antoni, this play is a staple for most NBA teams to use several times per game. But the Denver Nuggets do something a little bit different with how they like to run it.

So check it out and let me know what you think about the format, the play, the series, and feel free to ask whatever questions you have about this set. This episode is free for everyone but future episodes will be for DNVR subscribers only. So be sure to subscribe to make sure that you don’t miss out on future episodes!
