Amazing Nichushkin isn’t there. And it’s not the visa, it’s the passport? As someone who has lived in 8 different countries over the last 30 years, the only way it’s his passport is if it’s too close to expiry or expired or he lost the thing. Whatever the case it just shows he isn’t professional. But I am not worried about it, they are only paying him $850k (I know ‘only’), same as Kamenev or Greer. If he is the same old Nichushkin, they can send him down. In the unlikely event he gets claimed under waivers, well that’s a result. If he does get to the Eagles, Cro can have a go with him. If he mopes and doesn’t try, then they buy him out for small $$$. Really think he has a short leash and ultimately a short career with the Avs. There is too much young talent that have earned the right for a chance to coddle this underperforming, unprofessional bust. It would send a bad message to the prospects.

Why would you buy out a 1yr $850k contract?

Hmm, good question. To clear the roster spot, remove a negative, if it gets to that. You would have to pay him anyway so just pay it up front and move on. My point was that he is on small $$$ and he is off to a bad start on a stacked team.

Just tell him to stay home and collect his $$. I’m sure they can pass his photo around to security and not allow him in the building if he’s a ‘negative.’
