Fantastic article, Luke!
I hope Bednar learns how to adapt.
Could the Avs make greater use of AHL players?
Give the AHL players some NHL experience while giving regular team members a break?
It would explain why Sakic has loaded up on more good players than there is space available for them.

I don’t know if that was the intention by Sakic this off-season but one thing we’ve seen is that in order to have cup success, the modern team needs to have a ton of depth in case of injuries. So maybe we will see those AHL guys get good minutes in an injury pinch.

Hopefully the addition of a bona fide second line center in Kadri and the addition of Burakovsky/Donskoi will allow the Avs to rely on their significantly improved lineup in the middle six and allow Bednar to alleviate some of the pressure of the first line. Ideally, the ice time for the big 3 will see a dip in the upcoming season and allow them to be better rested and less injury prone come playoff time.

Hope we don’t go thru another roller coaster season, but bottom line is a team going into and playing well in playoffs. Really looking forward to this team jamming in the next decade! We’re finally back to relevance, not seen since…oh, about 2003 or so.
