I brought up the Chris Jones situation last week, because I wanted to go on record before mandatory mini camp began in KC. I have seen this coming for about a month, and it is nice to finally have confirmation after his absence on day one. It floored KC fans, and made all my chief-fan co-workers (mouth full I know) avoid me all day…mission accomplished!

I think this is huge news for the Broncos because it can play out one of two ways. If the chiefs sign him they will use all of their 2019 cap, around 24 million, and next years cap, 9 million (not counting increase in cap). His contract will be no less than $20 million/year. The chiefs will have to prepare for Mahomes Deal which is going to be around $200 million/year. They will have an abundance of cap casualties, and couple that with their neglect of the draft the past few years and it bodes well for the Broncos. The other option is he doesn’t play. That dude is an animal, and I would rather play the chiefs without him!

I know I nerd out on this stuff, but I really think this is great for the Broncos. Curious about your thoughts….Ryan I know you don’t believe in the cap, but it is definitely real!

If I had the ability to bring back a former player at his peak, I’d be finding a way to sneak in two: Tom Nalen and Gary Zimmerman. Picture that. Omg..

Gotta share my all-time Broncos fandom story. In the 1997 season when the Broncos won their first Super Bowl, I was living and traveling abroad in India and Nepal. Missed all of the regular season except for a couple games because of that. Returned to India from Nepal just before the playoffs started. I had a feeling it might be a special year, but I was staying in a small village with no tv access, a 4 hour crazy Indian bus ride away from the nearest city (Bangalore) where I could catch the games. But I had to see these games, so each week I would take the grueling 4 hour bus ride to the city, rent a more expensive hotel room in the city that had a tv and international ESPN, and stay up until 1am to watch the games live. Then 4 hours back to the village and repeat for all 4 weeks of the playoffs and Super Bowl. I watched them win the Super Bowl alone in a hotel room, and was making so much noise cheering at the end, that the Indian hotel staff came up to see if everything was alright. The craziest part was after we won. It was one of the most surreal moments of my life. Had been dreaming of this moment my whole childhood and it had finally come true. I walked out of my hotel room feeling like I was not even in my own body, so excited and pumped and wanting to celebrate, and… no one out there knew a thing about it. Just another regular day in India. I wanted to be rioting in the streets of Denver with all the fans, but I had no one to share it with there! That was so hard! Finally, I had to walk around and find an international phone call shop (strangely these were called STDs in India) and call my Dad back in Hawaii to celebrate and talk to someone about it. Quite the effort, but so worth it to see all those games and see us win our first Super Bowl!

To elaborate, the neglect of the draft is trading away high draft picks for Frank Clark and Mahomes. Mahomes was worth it, but you need more than just a great QB to win a super bowl. (Just ask Aaron Rodgers, Despite what Zac thinks of him). Chris Jones holding out is a direct result of the Frank Clark trade, and only stands to highlight the chiefs willingness to mortgage the future to win now…not that I blame them. This means there is a window for a young talented team, the broncos, to climb back to the top!

I like to keep up with AFC West teams, because they constitute 6 of the games Denver will play every year. So I apologize if this is not a topic you want to talk about…it’s the off-off-season…so what else are we going to discuss?

Last thing…I didn’t mean to say that all teams have players as bad as Tyreek Hill…I simply meant they all have players that probably shouldn’t be role models. Example would be Adam Gotsis for the Broncos…maybe you have more insight into that situation, but from an outsiders perspective it doesn’t look good.

Thanks for the great content!

Hey guys with all the talk about people listening to other Broncos Podcasts, I wanted to let you know that I am in a monogamous relationship with the BSN Denver Broncos Pod. I only listen to one Broncos Podcast. Haven’t heard any others and I don’t need to.

My Broncos Origin story is pretty mundane. My dad was stationed in Fort Carson when I was in Jr. High and my first memories were driving up to Denver to visit my Uncle’s family to watch games in the late ’80s/early ’90s. Fell in love with them back then and bounced around after that, never living in an area with a “home team” so the Broncos stuck. However, my greatest moment as a Bronco fan was during Super Bowl XXXII. I was between undergrad and graduate school in Fairbanks living in a big house with a bunch of roommates and we threw a party with a bunch of friends to watch the game. One of my roommates was a Wisconsin native and a HUGE Packer fan and he and I bet a shaved head on the outcome of the game. At kickoff, I was the only Bronco fan in the house but by the end of the third quarter I started hearing whispers from others saying things like “I kind of thought the Broncos would win”. Having consumed many cold snacks I became very outspoken in shushing those who dared to switch sides and at the end of the game, shaved my roommate’s head in front of everyone! Glorious!

Interested to hear your thoughts on the Raiders being featured on Hard Knocks this year.

Thanks for being awesome!

If we’re going over Broncos origin stories then I have to throw my hat in the ring. I was born a Broncos fan in ’90. My dad spent his teens and twenties in Denver and passed it on to me. The first game I remember was pretty traumatic. It was Super Bowl 32, I was 8 years old and my parents were separated. I was spending the night with my dad and he had a few friends over for a watch party. Needless to say they got pretty hammered and one of the women at the party started sucking on my toes. It was very weird and the memory has haunted me since.
As for my favorite jersey, mine is my Tebow. One of my ex’s worked at a sporting goods store so her discount combined with the clearance price it ended up costing me about 20 bucks. The very next week Tebow got the start. Tebow didn’t pan out but to this day that jersey never fails to start a conversation somewhere.
The Raiders being on Hard Knocks this year is pretty annoying, but on the bright side we will get to watch them implode from the inside and outside this year.

PS. I got the hiccups the other day and tried the trick of drinking water through a paper towel. It actually worked! Go figure.

A question about Matt Russell. The guys at Bleacher Report did a podcast and Matt’s name came up as someone who is a future GM candidate. I think his contributions get underrated by the fans, and everything I’ve heard is that he’s a pretty good talent evaluator. Anyway, if Russell does get a GM job elsewhere, are there any in-house candidates who can step in and be Elway’s right hand man (or future replacement).

Denver used to be a hotbed for personnel guys (Champ Kelly and Adam Peters were also mentioned as future GM candidates) but it seems like that’s decreased the less they’ve been winning (novel idea, I know!)

My ideal yearly awards would be:
MVP- Joe Flacco. Scangarello got Nick Mullens to 13 TDs in a partial season. Flacco can get 25 with over 4,000 yds and limited turnovers. Those are team MVP numbers because we haven’t seen that in five years!
BREAKOUT PLAYER- Bradley Chubb. With 15-20 sacks next year, he’ll show us all why the Broncos picked him with the 4th pick two years ago. (Honorable mention to Courtland Sutton, I think he’ll ball out this year)
NEW FACE TO KNOW- Obvious choice would be Fant, but I’m going with Justin Hollins/Joe Dineen. I think one of those two guys are gonna breakout quick under Fangio. They play different styles, but I think Fangios defense will allow one of these two HIGH motor guys to flourish.

LETS GET REEEAAAADDDDDYYYY TO RAMBLE!

Sorry but this may get all over the place.

Someone had mentioned which former player we could bring back, and i got to thinkin, what about Ryan Clady? Replace Gumball with a guy who could have been borderline HOF, had he stayed healthy, and this line becomes considerably better.

Who doesnt like BBQ sauce?!?!

If i dont number these you can read line three right?

Tim Tebow was amazing and i bought his jersey as soon as he was drafted, little did i know, my second favorite Bronco would be drafted only a few picks later.

DT is a classic, he was upset when he got traded, so what! Would you not be a little upset if you wife or husband traded you in? Wear his jersey with pride!

Cant wait to see the VonStar and Chubb-er-naut in action this year!

I give players absolutely ridiculous nicknames, see above.

On a serious note. I love this community. I dont view it as a pod or a group forum, i view it as a family. Its a joy to know people here can be adults and put their opinions out there without being attacked like other social places.

Long live BSN!

Much love, except for you Elway,

Name means Lacrosse freak. Switched to lacrosse in high school and it is the best sport right behind rugby!

After listening to Monday’s podcast about the snake, my family and I were working in the yard chopping down some weeds, and she screams bloody murder sending a chill down my spine. It was one of those screams that makes your heart beat 3x faster and make you run out of breath. Turning around expecting to see something horrible that had happened, a tiny (and I mean tiny) garden snake slithered out from a rock…. I rolled my eyes, grabbed my shovel and took care of the snake. Well 10 minutes after the snake had been taken care of, it was still moving. Could you guys eat a snake right after it died while still moving on the plate? Technically a moving blood sausage.

Looking forward to the upcoming season, I was getting hyped for what this team could potentially be. I think most of Broncos country was this team to be at minimum entertaining. I want to see a complete offense, putting 65 yard drives together, converting on 3rd downs and actually finishing in the red zone. My dream is that we have 2ea. 1,000 yard receivers with 7 td’s each, and a 1300 yard year with 8td’s for Lindsay. I believe this is attainable for them. Emmanuel had 868 yards and 4 td’s and courtland had 704 yards and 4 td’s. Lindsay had 1,037 and 9 td’s.

What expectations should we have from this group? I want either we are going to be disappointed or this is going to be exciting. No open ended answers please. 🙂

I’m not forgetting about the defense! Chubb will have more sacks than von, we will be top 5 defense and have a recording setting sack year! (Mic drop)

Have a good day!

Fellas,

Are you at all concerned about all of the players that are on the final year of their contract? I know it might pay off with high-intensity play this year, but what about the ability to retain our talent without overpaying? Is it a good thing to have so many at once? Do you feel Elway and his staff have been good at managing the cap?

Hey guys haven’t commented in awhile and wanted to give my take on a few topics. Sorry for the long post but I want one of those 2+ hour pods.

1. I started my broncos fandom when I was in third grade playing running back and they gave me the number 30 so I went on my search to find an NFL team that had a running back with the same number as me. Well turns out at the time that was Terrell Davis. So from then on out I’ve been a broncos fan even through the Brian Griese days, which brings me to my next point.

2. My first jersey was a blue silk Brian Griese jersey with the printed numbers. I have not and will not own a shersey (unless as stated it is aquired for free).

3. I need to buy a new jersey and would like to buy a Phil Lindsey jersey but don’t want to feel like a bandwagon guy for it. Granted I’ve been on the Phil train since he joined the team last year thanks to Ryan and even drafted him on my fantasy team. So my question is does that make me a bandwagon guy?

4. So I hear there is a few other BSN community members from Washington State and was curious who is planning on attending the Denver vs. Seattle game? Also for those that are, possibly we could have a meet up at the game.

5. So I know you guys get to know the players on aore personal level than the rest of us and was curious in your guy’s opinion which player is the funniest/ biggest jokester on the team. And to counter that who is the most down to business strictly football type guy on the team ( excluding Fangio haha)

6. Just want to thank you guys for all the great coverage and insight I have never really had any interest in the off-season coverage but I do now and that is soley thanks to you guys for makong it so interesting to me.

8. Just want to say that I think the audio stories is a great idea to help me get even more coverage at work to pass my day.
