I’m from Hawaii but became a Bronco fan at age 11. A kid from Colorado moved to my hometown of Waimea and he was just so fanatical about the Broncos. During our backyard football games, he would constantly be calling out names like Rulon Jones, Karl Mecklenburg, and Dennis Smith when he’d tackle me, and of course John Elway when he threw a pass. Over time it just rubbed off on me, but the final push was watching The Drive against Cleveland. I was losing my mind watching that game and that sealed it. Die Hard Bronco fan ever since that 86/87 season.

As for jerseys, my first was an Elway in 1998, but my most prized jersey is my Darrent Williams one. I was living in Japan when he passed, and was on the phone long distance to the Broncos team store in Denver every day trying to order his jersey. They told me that they were going to print out one final batch after he was killed and that would be it forever. When they finally came in I was able to get ahold of one. Rest In Peace, D-Will, and the number 27 should be retired for both him and Steve Atwater.

As a side note, during my trip to Denver last season to watch the Houston game, I drove out to the Montebello Boys and Girls Club to see the teen center built in Darrent Williams’ honor and took some pictures with his statue. Amazing work they are doing out there with those kids.

Final note, my second jersey was a TD, made by Puma, back in 1999. In those days, several different companies made jerseys, not just the brand that was making them for the NFL teams.

What difference have y’all noticed in the way Fangio is running OTAs compared to Vance this time last year? I’ve heard the practices are more efficient and more intense, but has there been anything else?

I think the reason you guys know Chaz greens name is bethel was the tackle that gave up five sacks to Adrian clayborn when the falcons played the cowboys a couple years ago.

Hey guys a few weeks ago I heard you all discuss how you got into sports media field. I really love seeing people living their dreams and happy to let you know you all are helping me with mine. I’m a Brand Manager or the education behind a company that makes a healthy way to medicate with cannabis infused coffee and teas. It’s a dream that a lot of people hated on at first but now people ask for advice . I feel that can be related to sports media where you have some haters until you show success haha. Anyways I have to drive all the time from San Diego to LA or Palm Springs so always in my car and your podcasts have made my trips fun even when in traffic. Havent missed an episode in a year and a half! And coming up on a year of subscription. I have only read 5-6 articles unfortunately but had to help support you all and try to help your dreams. No matter how crazy a dream is with great work ethic, being honest and great attitude, and never have the attitude that any job is beneath you success will come. Sorry for the long post. Also for my broncos question. If we could get one solid piece for the future, a pro bowler , and an all pro which offense lineman could have the potential to hit each one. ( different lineman each category) thanks again!Go Broncos!!!!

1. Dark horse Zac “cute laugh” Stevens

2. long story short I was also born in God’s country (colorado) but I no longer live there. At the time my job required me to have personal information like DOB’s and SSN’s and someone called in and when I asked for their SSN they started listing off mine . In the moment I thought someone had stolen my identity and they were calling me at work for like the most ultimate flex, turns out we were born in the same hospital on the same day so our SSNs are like 19 different. Small world, crazy.

4. Being a kid in the 90s I had so many youth jerseys for the Broncos, I need to get them from my parents house and have a quilt made (that would be cool right?). When I started having my own cash I got a ton of Avalanche gear because it was during like the Grease-Orton years. So I have a Sakic, Forsberg, a Ryan Smyth sweater, I also had the reebok T shirts for Aebischer, Jose Theodore, Stastny. I got my a girlfriend a Duchene shirt because we were going to a game and it cost way less than a jersey. She wound up being my wife so I guess I could have just got the jersey lol. I didn’t mean to make this a flex, I didn’t realize how much avalanche gear I had until I started typing.

Also, my wife’s whole family is avid Chiefs fans, for birthdays and holidays they all get each other merchandise and memorabilia. They know that I, coming from God’s country, bleed orange and blue, so I get tons of Avalanche stuff because they can’t get me anything Broncos. I did get a SB50 pennant and a cool plaque from one of them as a secret santa gift one year though.

Ok so everyone is posting about how rhwy became a broncos fan. Well here is my story i was about 10 and just getting into football the first game i really watched was the 85 superbowl. My mom had got a subscription to SI and when i was thumbing through they had an article about rhe denver defense and in there i saw a team with orange shirts kicking the crap out of the cowboys and i was instsntly in love with this team orange was my favorite color as a kid. Well fast forward to the AFC championship game against the browns, i grew up in erie and everyone there was a browns steelers or bills fan and all rhe talk was about cleveland going to the Super Bowl, Then the most magical moment sports happened The Drive and i was forever a broncos fan from that point on.
As for Jerseys the first real jersey i aquired was an Emmanuel sanders color rush jersey. I was day drinking and saw an ad on fb and must have ordered it a couple of weeks later it shows up in my mail and i was wondering who sent it to me. It wasnt until i checked my credit card ststememt i had seen i ordered it. I couldnt beleive i made a drunk purchase like that but i love it and am glaf i did. No football comment but love the pod keep up the good work i am so excited forcrhe season to start. Go broncos

Zac, I swear to you I am not messing with you. I learned this hiccup cure trick from an old southern gentleman… and southern gentleman don’t lie.

Onto an important question. I live in Knoxville, TN, so obviously Peyton is God here. In regards to his time with the Broncos, I hold an admittedly pessimistic perspective. To me, Manning is the QB that lost the Broncos one SuperBowl, and nearly cost them another. His record breaking offensive folded under the Seattle defense, and he was scarcely serviceable in 2015.

In your opinion, is this a reasonable response? Or is this reaction totally oblivious to the value he had as a QB, a leader, and as a veteran to the team during his Broncos tenure?

Sorry about the random baby car seat story yesterday, I was cold claw snacking and feeling nostalgic (& old)!

Ryan, what in the flying muck! You listened to TEN podcasts on your time off, but you didn’t listen to Zac & Simone from Monday?? How can we all stay on point if we miss a day!

Kidding aside, I’ve been wanting to ask what other podcasts you both listen to? Any podcasts that were instrumental in developing your style?

What’s good BSN fam? It’s been a hot minute since I commented so let’s get on it.
First off, all this jersey talk has me itching to buy my first. Awhile back I asked if Lindsay or Lock was a good choice. However, since then I feel like I missed the Lindsay boat and it’s almost too popular now and I’d be jumping the gun by getting a Lock jersey. In thinking now about maybe getting a Courtland Sutton jersey. Thoughts? That may also be jumping the gun a bit, but I really expect him to make some serious progress this year and his name is just so fun to say. Sutton. SUTTON.
Now for some food talk. Why are y’all afraid to pronounce pho? I’m not a huge fan of pho as it always tastes a little bland to me. As for ramen, my home method is to throw out the flavor packet first. Fry up some mushrooms, garlic, and veggies in sesame oil, make the noodles in chicken broth with plenty of soy sauce, rice vinegar, and most importantly sriracha. Soft boil an egg (6 or so minutes) and combine everything for a great ramen bowl at home.
Alright listen up, to cure hiccups, hold your breath and swallow seven times. Has always worked for me.
Lastly, I think I’ll finally get to go to my first Broncos game this year! I’ll be flying to my parents home in Colorado Springs for Christmas and I’m going to try to make it to the Lions game while I’m in town.
Keep up the great work you guys!

Hey boys,

Glad I could introduce Zac to the concept of cosplay. My favorite Broncos related version would be the guy who dresses up as an orange and blue Darth Vader.

I became a Broncos fan by watching the ’86 AFC Championship. The Drive sealed it for me. Been a die hard ever since.

As someone who has spent a lot of times at various elevations I can say with certainty that the real advantage of altitude is in intoxacants. At a high altitude your drug of choice will hit you harder and faster (Rocky Mountain High indeed). This also allows you, when closer to sea level, to imbibe astonishing amounts of…whatever. One can utilize this to appear to have nearly super human abilities which can then be used to appear more attractive to the ladies…or dudes.

Great episode as usual. I’d like to leave you with this slightly disturbing thought…rodeo clown groupies.

Just read that the Broncos used 9 of their 10 allotted OTA practices this off-season. With a new coaching staff and so much to learn, why wouldn’t they use all 10? The CBA limits so much these days, so it surprises me that they don’t use every possible opportunity to coach and teach.

This is my first time commenting, though I’ve been a long time listener to the podcast and have been a subscriber since the Black Friday sale. I definitely wanted to comment before now but just haven’t gotten around to it. I wanted to say that this is an amazing community and to RK and Zac, you guys put together an amazing podcast and are very talented writers. No questions or anything yet but I’m sure i’ll Have some for future episodes.

Thanks for the advice of what to do in Denver for that week early in May – sorry I couldn’t swing by BSN. My time ended up being packed with bachelor party shenanigans. This was the first real amount of time I spent in Denver, so here are some things I noticed as an outsider.

1. The airport is comically far away from Denver. Didn’t really notice it last time when I was a kid.

2. If you’re traveling for any length of time, rent a car. The city is really large in area.

3. Denver is the flattest city I’ve ever been to.

4. They aren’t kidding about the water. Literally every bar or brewery I went to had a water station. I’ve never seen anything like it.

5. Denver has to have the highest hair dye per capita anywhere in the world.

6. Coldsnacks isn’t just something Ryan says. There is at least one beer there called “Coldsnack.”

8. Nowhere is really packed – every bar or spot had plenty of people, but it was easy enough to find seating. The sprawl is to your advantage here.

9. You can’t really see the mountains from the city, but just a quick ride outside of the city treats you to spectacular views. Went rafting in Buena Vista and the drive was a treat.

10. Beer is cheap.

11. Buckhorn Exchange is super cool. Check it out if you haven’t. The wild game, drinks and atmosphere were fantastic and Rocky Mountain Oysters were an experience.

Thanks for the advice on things to do. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go to Red Rocks to see Shpongle. Most of us had already seen them in New York and tickets were a few hundred dollars too much.

Here’s my mandatory mini-camp question: How is Alijah Holder looking? Is he practicing with the second or third team? Do you have any stories or scoops on him? His athletic testing and production metrics chart him as panning out as a long-term starter.

Hey guys! Wow, so far, I’m super impressed by how Fangio has come in and run all the off season programs. One would expect a “rookie” head coach to have some foibles, or for things to seem a little chaotic at times. NOT the case here at all with the Godfather! Everything seems to be running so well and is so organized. I love the level of intensity he is getting out of the players and the steep learning curve he’s put them through. And, this in just through OTA’s! When asked yesterday about giving players complements he said “I don’t say a whole lot out there, because during the game we’re on the sidelines, and you can’t talk to players other than between series, so I like to see them play without people in their ear telling them what to do.” WOW! This guy has thought of EVERYTHING! Guys, all these little things are going to add up! This is breaking coaching down to the most micro level. This is attention to detail that we may have never seen from a Denver Broncos coach before. This is making sure no stone is left upturned. THIS, my friends, is no DEATH BY INCHES!!!!!

Few things.
1. My bsn fandom was a random was started with a chance listening to an episode trying to find another podcast I couldn’t find when I switched podcast apps.
2. My hiccup cure is simply meditate and focus on the hiccups and slowing my breathing. It works for me every time but not my wife so good luck with it.
3. Zac please dear god come up with a more sane name for a child. I dated a woman at one point who wanted to name a daughter Carie Yokie. Names can be hell for kids and they will be more hate filled with a laughable name.
4. I just recently got diagnosed with a cartilage blister confirmed on mri. I had never heard of this and was curious if you had ever heard of this and if anyone had ever been announced as having one as an injury? Im back to work and good now but it was painful with similar symptoms to a torn meniscus.
5. Jad a question in my head but dan_burk beat me to it. Lol! Orange Love all!

My DOOOODs!

long time no comment, but I am back at it. Great work through the offseason thus far, man I love the BSN brand. I wanted to chime in on the two topics we have all been sharing me. How I became a Broncos fan and my first jersey.

In the year 2000 my family immigrated to the USA from Jordan to Breckenridge CO. My dad came out to Breck a year early and got us settled in. When I arrived as a 12 year old I asked him if people in America liked Soccer.. and his answer was “no not really, but I found us a new sport that you will love” and the rest was history for the last 19 years I have been a die hard Broncos fan and the early 2000s players hold a dear spot in my heart. This is why I am so jacked to cheer Champ into the HOF!

My first jersey was a Broncos orange crush alternative Jake Plummer. I got it during his killer 2005 season on a discount rack and I freaking love it. I still bust it out once a year on Sundays and I have a blue one now. I also have a few Champ jersey lol, a custom 88 jersey with “Badwan” on it cause 88 is my birth year (it was a gift from the wife), Also a Manning jersey that was a gift from my wife (she the real MVP), and a Von Miller SB50 jersey that he signed for me before in Redskins. game during warm-ups 2017. So as you can imagine I do not wear that Von jersey anymore, so I need to get a new one with a current player on it. I am thinking of waiting till Lock takes over as the starter to get his. But I really enjoy getting defensive jerseys so what should be my next purchase? I am thinking of getting Chubb or CHJ, even if Chris leaves it will be a classic.

Zac! thank you for the recap article yesterday I am looking forward to reading the next one. Can you tell us more about what you saw from DeMarcus Walker when he was with the second team? sounded like he popped out to you.

Ya Boi,

Hello BSN boys! How has the offensive line looked? I haven’t heard much of Sam Jones and was hoping he would take a major step forward. Has Bolles been tackling Bradly Chubb? The way the Broncos line seems to stink every year makes me think I’m living in the movie groundhogs day. Hoping to see a lot less holding penalties this year.. fingers crossed!

Ps.. glad to have Ryan back but the pod was definitely still passable with Zac and Andre.. not quite as bad as the colts without Peyton.
Go Broncos!

Hey guys,

could yall see them giving out #88 in the near future? Also what are yalls thoughts for young players taking on significant franchise numbers? with Phil it was a little different since TD has been gone for quite some time but what about a young WR taking 88? arrogant? risky on their part? or perfectly fine?

also the sports app that I use for all my updates did a 2019 OL ranking and the broncos were number 17. does this seem about right? would love to hear what Zac and the new dark and pessimistic RK have to say?

thanks keep up the great work!

Hey guys,

Time for me to weigh in on jerseys. My favorite jersey purchase would be my Tebow jersey that I bought last year (let me explain). My buddy is a huge 49ers fan and we went to the 49ers vs Broncos game at Levi Stadium last year. We had a bet going that the loser had to wear the other team’s jersey to the game. A lucky trip to Goodwill and 12 dollars later my friend is getting crap from both Broncos and 49ers fans. Worth every penny. It might’ve been a game I’d like to forget, but at least I’ll always have that.

I also bought a signed Jake Butt jersey before the second ACL tear. I’m not giving up on Ol’ Butt yet, Julius Thomas had two injury ruined seasons before breaking out in 2013. I’ll admit i probably wouldn’t have bought the jersey if his name wasn’t Butt (and I hadn’t imbibed a few cold snacks). Like Ryan, I too am still trying to become an adult.

Hey guys changed my name from Kericks4, figured with how awesome this community is I could put more thought into my name than just my CU login. First off I know this topic has been talked about a bunch but I do consider Peyton Manning a Bronco now, after how adamantly Zac defended him as Bronco I do think he considers himself a Bronco now but when I was considering the jersey to buy he hadn’t even played a whole season in Denver. My thing wasn’t that he isn’t a Bronco now, it was that he hadn’t been here long enough to prove to me he would do enough for the Broncos to warrant a jersey investment, that being said he obviously has now and I saw my dad’s 18 jersey he got that day collecting dust in their guest room so I may sntch it next time I visit them. Now on to keto, I haven’t made the jump to cutting out carbs, but Ryan if you are looking to take the next step in the keto you should start doing intermittent fasting. It works best if you pair it with keto because then your body is in a constant state of ketosis, but last summe I decided to step away from fighting for a while and going from working out 20 hours per week to just walking the dog I gained about 20 lbs in 4 months before trying fasting. Again if you pair it with keto you’ll it is supposed to work even better but do some research, I barely work out but eating just one meel a day (even if it’s unhealthy and loaded with carbs) I am able to walk around about 5 lbs heavier than my fighting weight. Keep up all the good work, this week with Henry was awesome but can’t wait for Ryan to get back on the pod and all three would be even better! This has ruined other podcasts for me because you guys put a long podcast out daily and some how keep it from getting repetitive, thank you for all your hard work!
