BSN Denver NFL Mock Draft 2.0: Trades alter the Top 10 and Denver gets their man

With two weeks to go until the first day of the 2019 NFL Draft, we’re ready to unveil our second mock, this time with four projected trades.

Those trades should give a better idea of what prospects could be targeted by teams interested in moving up and give the first round a more natural feel, without huge drops from some of the best prospects in the class. This allowed for a run on quarterbacks and edge rushers early on, as 20 of the 23 green-room attendees at this year’s draft squeezed into the first round. 

Without further ado, here’s how it all unfolded.

1) Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

Kliff Kingsbury was brought in to be an offensive innovator and Murray gives him the QB he needs to revolutionize pro football.

2) San Francisco 49ers: Nick Bosa, DE, Ohio State

Bosa gives the Niners an elite edge rusher to build their defense around, he should be a lock to go in the top two.

3) New York Giants (from Jets): Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State

**Projected trade: Jets get pick 6, 37 and a 2020 second**

The Giants guarantee themselves their quarterback of the future without giving up the 17th pick.

4) Oakland Raiders: Josh Allen, OLB, Kentucky

The Raiders get a versatile pass-rushing linebacker to replace Khalil Mack.

Drew Lock remains the dark-horse pick here.

5) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Quinnen Williams, DL, Alabama

This turned out perfectly for the Bucs, who take Williams over Devin White to build a dominant defensive line pairing with 2018 first rounder Vita Vea.

6) New York Jets (from Giants): Brian Burns, EDGE, Florida State

After trading down, the Jets miss out on Allen and Williams but still find a special edge rusher in Burns for their aggressive new defense.

7) Atlanta Falcons (from Jaguars): Ed Oliver, DT, Houston

**Projected trade: Jaguars get pick 14, 45 and 117**

The Falcons move up to get their guy in Oliver, a phenomenal athlete and pass rusher to pair with Grady Jarrett, forming an elite pass-rushing duo inside.

8) Miami Dolphins (from Lions): Drew Lock, QB, Missouri

**Projected trade: Lions get pick 13 and 48**

The Fins tanking to get their quarterback in 2020 sounds fishy (pun intended). Instead, they trade up to get Lock, ushering in a new era under first-time head coach Brian Flores.

9) Buffalo Bills, Rashan Gary: DL, Michigan

In this scenario, it was either Gary or an offensive lineman, the Bills opt for the ultra-talented and versatile DL, showing trust in their young offensive line.

10) Denver Broncos: Devin White, LB, LSU

With no high-end quarterbacks or defensive lineman left, White falls into the Broncos lap.

The LSU star would be a truly special addition to Vic Fangio’s defense. At his best, White looks like a young Patrick Willis, an all-time great who was transcendent under Fangio.

If the goal in the Mile High City is to build the team around an elite Fangio-led defense, White will be hard to pass on.

Trading down to take an offensive prospect on the OL, at tight end, or even receiver would be more pressing, but a dynamic rangy linebacker like White was too good to let go at 10.

11) Cincinnati Bengals: Andre Dillard, LT, Washington State

With the top-three QBs gone, the Bengals take Dillard, an athletic blindside protector who promises to be a key building block in Zac Taylor’s offense.

12) Green Bay Packers: T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa

Hockenson can upgrade Green Bay’s running game with his blocking ability and be a reliable weapon in the passing game, making him a logical choice for a team with two first-round picks. 

13) Detroit Lions (from Dolphins): Montez Sweat, EDGE, Mississippi State

The Lions still get a top-10 talent after trading down and now have the bookends of their defense with Trey Flowers and Sweat.

14) Jacksonville Jaguars (from Falcons): Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida

**Projected trade (see above)**

The Jaguars move down to add youth and depth at a controlled price and still get their top target in Taylor—a plug-and-play right tackle to complete their O-line.

15) Washington Redskins: Clelin Ferrell, EDGE, Clemson

Just like that, all the top edge rushers are gone in the first-15 picks. Seemingly the most likely trade destination for Josh Rosen, Washington can afford to take Ferrell here. If they don’t get Rosen, Daniel Jones should receive strong consideration.

16) Carolina Panthers: Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama

The Panthers fix their line with the most NFL-ready and versatile blocker in the draft.

17) New York Giants (from Browns): D.K. Metcalf, WR, Ole Miss

The Giants replace Odell Beckham Jr. with Metcalf, the top receiver in the class with unlimited potential and plenty of risk.

18) Minnesota Vikings: Garrett Bradbury, OC, NC State

The Vikings need help everywhere on their line, and Bradbury can be a stable anchor to fix their offensive issues.

19) Tennessee Titans: Hakeem Butler, WR, Iowa State

In a deep TE class, the Titans pass on Noah Fant, instead opting for another talented big target in Butler, an athletic freak with rare size.

20) Pittsburgh Steelers: Devin Bush, LB, Michigan

The Steelers get their man in Bush, finally finding a worthy replacement for Ryan Shazier.

21) New England Patriots (from Seahawks): Noah Fant, TE, Iowa

**Projected trade: Seahawks get picks 32 and 64**

With six picks in the top 101, the Patriots move up to get Fant, a potentially terrifying mismatch in their offense. 

22) Philadelphia Eagles (from Ravens): Cody Ford, OL, Oklahoma

**Projected trade: Ravens get picks 25, 127 and 163**

The Eagles jump up three spots and have their choice of the best remaining offensive lineman or running back. They take Ford, who projects to be a phenomenal road-grading guard and has the potential to be their long-term right tackle.

23) Houston Texans: Dalton Risner, RT, Kansas State

The Texans get lucky and run to the podium to take Risner, the only first-round worthy tackle remaining.

24) Oakland Raiders (from Bears): Josh Jacobs, RB, Alabama

The Raiders are a bell-cow RB away from completing their offensive puzzle and are supposedly big fans of Jacobs.

25) Baltimore Ravens (from Eagles): Marquise Brown, WR, Oklahoma

The Ravens trade down and still add a playmaker for Lamar Jackson, as Brown’s speed would bring a whole new dimension to Baltimore’s offense.

26) Indianapolis Colts: Christian Wilkins, DL, Clemson

This should be Wilkins’ floor, as he could be a key addition to the young defensive core Indy’s started to build.

27) Oakland Raiders (from Cowboys): Byron Murphy, CB, Washington

The Raiders close out round one with a ball-hawking cornerback who can cover inside or outside.

28) Los Angeles Chargers: Jerry Tillery, DT, Notre Dame

Tillery would be an ideal fit in Denver, but the Bolts snatch him up here to add to their already-scary defensive front.

29) Kansas City Chiefs: Zach Allen, DL, Boston College

New DC Steve Spagnuolo gets a versatile piece to add to his DL, allowing him to bring NASCAR type looks to KC.

30) Green Bay Packers (from Saints): Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, DB, Florida

The Packers add a talented DB who can be used as a nickel back or at either safety position.

31) Los Angeles Rams: Chase Winovich, EDGE, Michigan

The Rams find a talented pass rusher who should be ready to contribute right away, a key in their win-now window.

32) Seattle Seahawks (from Patriots): Johnathan Abram, S, Mississippi State

After adding some much-needed draft capital by trading down, the Seahawks select a tone-setting safety who fits their scheme to perfection.
