Varly is done in CO. The future is Grubauer and Francouz. Varly always wilts under pressure and is too fragile.

Assuming they can sign the potential UFA Francouz

Great to see Groob get in a groove, hopefully this is the beginning of the long, storied and highlight filled epic saga of Groob in an Avalanche sweater! Hoping for 96 too!

Wouldn’t it be great if we had been grooming someone for a little depth. Maybe Greer could fill in for a couple of games if they are ever given him a chance. For sure he’s not a Landy or Rants but he does have some size and skill.

The next 4 games will define not only the season but what this team and many of the players are. Is Groob the next franchise netminder? Is Tyson Jost ready to take the mantle of 2C and run with it? Is Compfer a legit top 6 forward? Is Big Z a real building block? Is MacK going to go beast mode when it counts the most? Is Sammy G ready to be a legit top pairing dman on a playoff team? 4 games and so many answers to come.

If we can keep riding Grooby’s .98 SV% for the rest of the season, we’re a shoe-in to hoist the Cup!

Looked like ribs for Rants, but the way he slammed a fist on the boards (twisting chest) makes me hope otherwise. Any twisting hurts like hell when you’ve got a cracked rib…speaking from (extremely recent) experience.

I just booked an appointment with a shrink…the Avs roller coaster season (recent years) has made me manic-depressive…what an impressive performance, guys stepping up (Barrie, Johnson, Girard) not to mention Grubs…Big Z is still a work in progress but love that he stands up for his teammates and tempted Benn with a fight but did not himself start it (Benn’s hit on Rantanen was clean)…the urgency is there and the strong goal tending (finally) is inspiration for the team to play hard and fast…love it

The thing that scares me about the Avs is how inconsistent they have been.
They beat the great teams like Winnipeg and Nashville back to back, then they get beaten by the lousy teams like Anaheim and Ottowa…

Maybe that boils down to inconsistency with Varly, and Gruby can pull us through?…

I’m keeping my fingers crossed… if the Avs make the playoffs I hope they play Winnipeg or Nashville, because we know we can put up a good fight with them. If we get Calgary then we’re cooked.

As the standings currently sit, the Avs are:

6-13-5 against the top 10 teams in the NHL (1 GP remaining)
14-6-4 against the bottom 10 teams in the NHL (2 GP remaining, both this weekend vs CHI)

Losing to bad teams really hasn’t been a major issue for the Avs.
