Isles got rid of John Taveras and have gotten better. Let that sink in. That’s called coaching.

Your grade on Barrie was too kind. Was he practicing his figure skating on that OT goal?

Right on about the coaching. So many times I’ve asked myself why every other team but the Avs have the ability to adjust in game.

Someone called it out on a previous post – Barrie is more likely to do something stupid on defence and cost the AVS the game than he is to win it. Case in point again today – he totally lost his man on the game winning OT goal. I’m ready to see Joe trade him for a bag of pucks… well maybe a bag of pucks and a 3rd line winger..

What 1-10 in OT. One of the worst PK’s in the league. Absolutely the goal tending but has been horrible. But at what time does Bednar make a significant change beyond breaking up the 1st line for half of the first period? I know Francouz was hurt but if you’re telling me Spencer Martin couldn’t have played as well as what Varly and Grub have done for the past 2 months then tell me why he is even in the system.

Everybody going with the hot takes, “Fire Bednar”, “Trade Barrie”, “Use Spencer Martin”. Did everyone think they were going to win the cup this year? Obviously this slump is frustrating and unacceptable but the team doesn’t have depth, plain and simple. Varlamov has played good the past two games while facing 40 plus shots. There is a reason Martin is in the AHL. For those saying fire Bednar, you are probably the same people that were complaining the never got coach of the year last year. There is a such thing as special teams coaches you know right? And that’s where the avs are really having trouble; 3 on 3, penalty kill, and their power play is just bad right now. With regards to Barrie, yeah he’s a liability sometimes but if you take him away from the team right now they will never win a game, he brings so much offensively and away from the puck. Who else do you want to put out there for 3 on 3? Nemeth? So he can ice the puck? Zadorov so he can jump plays or get a penalty? Or girard so he can get man handled like Draistl did to him and everyone complained what is he doing out there? They just grabbed two points in games they didn’t even deserve a point. Look at the optimism here folks, it’s a process. Two first round picks this year, Kaut, Jost, makar, and timmins are not with the team right now and that’s 4 first rounders, relax and enjoy the process folks.

The Avs record with Barrie out of the lineup the last 2 seasons is really good, like 12-0 I think. Jost is a bust, Timmins may never make it back entirely, Kaut isn’t a top end player. The Avs would have been better off with Hischier, Heiskenen, Patrick, or especially Peterson instead of Makar. There just wanted to spread a little negativity about the Avs today. 0 progress since 16-17 right now Jap18.

You said the Avs would be better off with a bunch of guys taken ahead of Makar (except for Peterson, who I assume is Pettersson, taken one after him). That’s usually the case, but the Avs didn’t have a higher pick thanks to the lottery. Now read this article published today and maybe you’ll feel better: https://theathletic.com/809141/2019/02/12/the-next-erik-karlsson-the-next-hobey-baker-winner-cale-makar-might-be-both/
