Rantanen was amazing for 95 percent of the game. He was nearly impossible to get the puck off of, and had some silky moves. Nothing to show for it though.

Your right, and im going to disagree with AD on this on. He is so strong on the puck. His stick handling blows us away!! Hes a total MIkko Forsberg. Of coarse hes going to have shit to bed moments, but We can just mark him up as an A

Preds play such a professional mature game- avs have moments of brilliance by a few skilled players followed by long stretches of immature sloppy hockey

Agreed. The Avs need to master the art of doing the little things, making the smart plays so they dont have to expend all their energy covering their mistakes

There is no excuse for the first goal allowed by Varly. How can Varly possibly allow a 5 hole goal when he is square with no obstructions? The wrap around goal allowed is not worth wandering about. There is no way the Avs can hold onto a playoff chance with both goalies playing so poorly… It will be interesting to see what management ultimately does before the trade deadline?

Varly allowed that weak ass 5 hole goal by lifting his stick off the ice for no reason. You can bet they won’t try Francouz, I know that for sure. Maybe the FO is shooting for 2 top 5 picks this year?

> If that’s actually true, that’s really weird and sort of fun?

No, because Nieto has never actually scored on one. It would be fun if he could turn those penalty shots into goals even 1/3 of the time because we could have used it today.

Why send Graves back and keep Barberio?

Graves rookie contract situation. He can only play nine games until we burn a year. But maybe there is something else?

Waivers, if he plays two more games he will need to clear waivers. Beds isn’t playing him over nemeth or Barbie so he may as well go down to the A and play

It’s odd how the Avs have flipped their MO. They’ve gone from a team that gets the short end of The hockey metrics that won games to a team that outshoots it’s opponents and loses games. When is the last time our goaltender outplayed their goaltender?
